Kristy Clement

Kristy joined AFDF as the CEO in 2023. As CEO, Kristy collaborates closely with the board, staff, and community partners to chart a strategic course for the future of Alaska’s maritime industry, fostering sustainable outcomes for Alaska’s economy, environment, and communities. 

Originally from the Village of Port Lions on Kodiak Island, Kristy discovered her love for the ocean in her youth while fishing alongside her father on his seiner. Raised in a family connected to subsistence traditions, Kristy developed a profound respect for Alaska’s rich waters and lands. She enjoys harvesting and processing fish and shellfish, amongst other family traditions. 

With over two decades of leadership experience, Kristy is a visionary committed to supporting Alaska’s maritime stakeholders. Beyond her role at AFDF, she has spearheaded initiatives to enhance healthcare, social well-being, and economic health in Alaska and its communities. 

Kristy holds a BA in Organizational Management from Alaska Pacific University and an Executive MBA from the University of Washington. Her professional journey includes leadership roles such as CEO at Avante Medical Center, Executive Director of Cook Inlet Native Head Start, and Health System Administrator with Southcentral Foundation. 

Additionally, as the Chairperson of the Afognak Native Corporation Board of Directors, Kristy oversees operations of a $650M+ Alaska Village Corporation, which serves Shareholders originally from the Kodiak Island area. Active in board service for the Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors and Uplift Northwest, Kristy brings a unique blend of strategic vision and tactical expertise to AFDF.
